Tampa International Airport is a public airport that serves the Tampa Bay Area in Florida. Getting to and from the airport is easy with your Tampa car rental. It is known in the area for its attractive architecture and hassle-free design. One of the reasons it is easy to navigate this area is because of the color-coded design. The baggage claim and ticket counters are blue and red and the airlines are coded depending on their location within the Landside Terminal.
Get through the airport easily
Once you arrive with your Tampa car rental, you will be guided through the airport. The Landside Terminal was designed to make your trip as easy as possible. There are express elevators and escalators to keep passengers moving smoothly without much delay.
On Level 1 you will find baggage claim. Renovations are planned from 2008-2010. Beneath the parking garage the Blue Rental Car facility is not located, making it easy to pick up your Tampa car rental. A new car rental facility will also open in the garage adjacent to the Marriott Hotel.
Level 2 has all of the ticketing and check-in functions. It has recently been renovated, and is likely to undergo more in 2010 to handle increased passenger traffic.
Level 3 is the transfer level. This is where are the airside shuttle stations are found as well as the shopping area. There are two food courts on Level 3,operating on opposite sides of the building, including a TGI Fridays. There is also an outdoor smoking/observation area where the Airside B shuttle bay was once located.
Today there are four active Airsides (A, C, E, and F) with over 60 gates. All have modern, state-of-the-art facilities and include a food court and gift shops. They all also include outdoor smoking patios. When you travel to Tampa International Airport with your Tampa car rental, it is very easy to get around.
Airside A was designed by Continental Airlines and includes a commuter gate for Continental Connection and ten security screening lanes. The Airside services AirTran Airways, Continental Airlines, Frontier Airlines, JetBlue Airways, and Northwest Airlines.
Airside B was closed in 1991 and torn down in 2003. Today there is an overnight aircraft hardstand, automated baggage sorting facility, and a smoking patio.
Airside C was demolished, rebuilt, and reopened in 2005. Southwest Airlines designed the terminal and controls a majority of the gates here. This airside has a children’s play area, a gate for chartered flights, and ten security screening lanes with the latest screening machines. Midwest Airlines, Southwest Airlines, and Spirit Airlines all serve this Airside.
