Located only a mile from the Interstate 5, it easily services Seattle and Tacoma with your Tacoma car rental. The airport is a hub for Alaska Airlines and its regional subsidiary Horizon Air, as well as a focus city for Northwest Airlines. Know where to go
Find you way around
When you pull up to the main terminal with your Tacoma car rental, there are four concourses and two satellite terminals connected by an underground people mover. Also, as you park your Tacoma car rental in the parking garage, you will be greeted by a voice that says “Welcome to Sea-Tec”, the name given to the area before it was officially given that name.
Terminal 2 is now the oldest terminal in the airport, dating to 1962. There are 16 gates here as well as the Red Carpet Club operated by United Airlines. The terminal services a number of airlines, if you are traveling here with your Phoenix car rental. They are: Air Canada, Alaska Airlines, Continental Airlines, Great Lakes Airlines, and United Airlines.
Concourse A services American Airlines, AirTran Airways, China Airlines, Delta Air Lines, Frontier Airlines, Hawaiian Airlines, Sun Country Airlines, and US Airways.
Concourse B services Continental Airlines, JetBlue Airways, and Southwest Airlines. Concourse C and D services Alaska Airlines. This is one of the main hubs for this airline into the area.
The North Satellite services Air Canada, Alaska Airlines, and United Airlines.
The South Satellite in the international terminal. All international flights arrive here, and the follow airlines depart from here as well: Asiana Airlines, British Airways, EVA Air, Korean Air, Northwest Airlines, and Scandinavian Airlines System.
Knowing where to go with your Tacoma car rental will make your trip a little easier, so be sure to call ahead before you get there to find out where you will be departing.
Constructing an airport for the 21st century
The Seattle-Tacoma Airport was constructed in 1944 by the Port of Seattle to serve the region after the military took control of the Boeing Field in World War II. International flights began in 1947 when Northwest airlines began servicing Japan.
The airport gained popularity in the region with many carriers using the facilities. In 2005 Southwest threatened to move to the Boeing Field due to higher costs, but was unable to do so because that is a public airport and each airline needs to be offered equal access to it. This would be too much for the single runway that is available here, which is also not suitable for large commercial airplanes.
